ACBL Unit 503

Learning Game

This educational program completed on February 2, 2012 after 17 sessions. We thank all those who participated as lecturers and mentors and especially Val Baldwin for running this program for our Unit.

Past Topics

This educational game is for players who would like to learn or practice playing modern conventions. Each game focuses on one convention with a 30 minute lecture followed by eight hands to practice and reinforce the convention. A mentor is at each table to help you bid and go over the bidding, play and defense of the hand. There are no masterpoints given.

Material is based on Barbara SeagramÕs 25 Bridge Conventions You Should Know. Each game has a stand-alone topic so you may come to any game whether-or-not you have attend previous games.

All communication and materials are sent by email.

Games are held on Saturday mornings from 9 AM to 11:30 AM at our Bridge Center.

Reservations

You can attend any number of games but you must make a reservation ahead of each game so that we have enough mentors available. We also need notification if you cannot attend after a reservation is made. Table assignments will be emailed to you.

Partners

You do not need a partner, but if you have one or a group of people who would like to sit at the same table, let us know and we will sit you together.

Food

We will have tea and coffee available. You are welcome to bring food as long as you take responsibility for cleaning up the results (leftovers, crumbs, spills, etc.).

Cost

$7 for Unit 503 members, $10 for non-members. If you are not sure if you are a member of our Unit check the ACBL website.

Masterpoint Game Following

You are welcome to play in the duplicate game following our class. If you wish to play in this game, lunch is served at 11:30 and the game starts at noon. Those not staying for this game will need to leave the center promptly after our game.
